Dismissal of Police Head over Billionaire's Murder Denied

The head of the police General Vassil Vassilev will not be dismissed over the murder of MG Corporation President Iliya Pavlov, Interior Minister Petkanov told the Bulgarian National Radio on Monday.

Monitor daily reported on Monday that Stoyan Velev will replace Vassilev as head of the police. According to the daily, the change was coordinated with the Interior Ministry, the Cabinet, the Presidency.

Vassilev will be demoted to advisor of Boyko Borisov, chief secretary with the Interior Ministry, Monitor wrote.

In another development, the Interior Minister assured that the authorities took the necessary measures to manage the situation and added that there was no threat for the ordinary people.

In his opinion, the murder of Iliya Pavlov was prepared for a long time.
