Miss Bulgaria Protested Naked against War in Sofia
Society | March 9, 2003, Sunday // 00:00

A "naked protest" was staged in the park near the US Embassy in Sofia. Holding a "Peace" sign, Miss World Bulgaria 2001 Tanya Karabelova protested against possible strikes on Iraq, with a Bulgarian national flag wrapped around her naked body.
The anti-war performance was staged by journalist Martin Karbovski.
Leaflets were handed out, which said: "This is not an anti-American protest rally, nor is it a rally in support of Saddam." The beauty did not attract much attention from passers-by, who stopped briefly to look at her and then walked away. In Bulgaria unlike abroad, naked protests are not very popular.
