Sofia residents and guests had the rare opportunity to enjoy two spectacles of the esteemed Cremlin Ballet this week. On Tuesday night, the audience enjoyed Ivan the Terrible, on Thursday - Romeo and Juliet. Both were impressive productions: big, emotional Russian ballets.

The spectacles are staged by the outstanding choreographer Yuri Grigorovich who was not able to come to Sofia because of health problems.

Rich with Old World grandeur and tuneless spectacle, the Cremlin Ballet's Romeo and Juliet and Ivan the Terrible got standing ovation from the audience. Both evenings, the hall in the National Palace of Culture was full as over 3,500 spectators saw the magnificent performances.

The Cremlin Theater spectacles are part of the "Days of the Russian Culture" festival that began on Saturday when Russian President Vladimir Putin started a three-day visit to Bulgaria.
