Sony Ericsson announced that its P800 Smartphone will be available throughout Bulgaria in the shops of MobilTel, Germanos and Globul in days.

The P800 is the most feature-packed, versatile device from Sony Ericsson to date. With its large colour touchscreen and flip keypad, it serves both as an advanced mobile phone and as a comprehensively-equipped PDA. What's more, its built-in digital camera, and audio, video and storage capabilities can turn the P800 into a multimedia entertainment centre.

"With the growing trend towards conducting business on the move and the encouraging uptake of advanced services like multimedia messaging among consumers, we have high expectations of the P800," said Vesselka Vutova, marketing manager of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Bulgaria. "All our research shows that the P800 is well liked, particularly among young professional consumers, who see it as a useful addition to both their work and personal lives."

The Sony Ericsson P800 has a large, high-resolution colour screen that makes it ideal not only for viewing still or moving images, Web browsing and game-playing, but also for viewing e-mails and attachments including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files and Adobe Acrobat files. At 208x320 pixels (40x61mm) with the flip open and with 4,096 colours, the P800 screen offers better definition than any of its direct competitors.

The device offers efficient organizer (PIM) features, including address book with large storage space, calendar and synchronization features. There is also a special ‘Flight mode' feature for air travellers that deactivates the phone's radio transmitter - enabling users to read downloaded e-mail, edit contacts, set up meetings, listen to music and play games safely during their flights.

Four games come with the P800: Men in Black and Stunt Run (which are both 3D and played in widescreen mode); the Solitaire card game; and Chess, which can be played in stand-alone mode or in interactive mode against friends using SMS. More games and new levels can also be downloaded through the Java gaming platform.

Since the P800 was originally announced, Sony Ericsson has continued to add even more features. These include extra storage space through Memory Stick Duo™, digital music capability with the MP3-compatible Audio Player and video streaming for on-line viewing.

The internal memory of the P800 lets the user store up to 12MB of images, games, contacts and other items. Its has a Memory Stick Duo slot and comes with a 16MB Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick adapter, giving the user unlimited storage possibilities and a convenient way to transfer file between the phone and a computer.

The P800 supports both Web and WAP browsing, and the inclusion of WAP 2.0 means it can handle graphics, tables, frames, background colours, different font sizes with ease. Support for GPRS at 53.6kbit/s means faster browsing and downloads for the user.

The P800 includes all the latest communication technologies to ensure users are never out of touch. It is a triple-band phone supporting GSM 900, 1800 and 1900, as well as multimedia messaging (MMS), EMS, GPRS, HSCSD and Bluetooth. Its support of open industry standard protocols and languages including WAP 2.0, cHTML, Symbian OS, Java, SyncML and M-Services makes the P800 a highly versatile device, able to handle a wide range of applications and programming environments, and customizable to suit particular needs.
