Bulgaria Introduced New Rules for Non-residents

Foreign nationals who are to reside in Bulgaria have to register within 48 hours of their arrival at an office of the foreigners control authority or a regional police department, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry announced.

Accredited representatives of diplomatic and commercial missions have to register with the Interior Ministry.

Fines range from BGN 200 to BGN 5,000.

The foreigners are also required to notify the Bulgarian authorities when they change their address. The Bulgarians who provide accommodation to foreigners should notify the authorities within 48 hours. They should disclose the name, citizenship and ID number of the non-residents.

Hotel owners also have to keep a register of the foreigners that they accommodate.
