Foreign Minister Solomon Passy met the National Assembly speaker Gerdzhikov and the leaders of all parliamentary groups. `Passy did not ask the National Assembly to take extraordinary measures`, Parliament Speaker Ognyan Gerdzhikov announced. The leader of UDF and former Foreign Minister Nadezhda Mikhaylova, described the government decision to do everything possible to provide support to NATO and the United States as `a reaction prompted by a guilty conscience because of the belated government position.` Mikhaylova recalled that Bulgaria`s agreement with NATO signed in April is valid only on Bulgarian territory and only the National Assembly can make decisions in the case that Bulgaria is asked to provide logistic or any other support. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms will support any request made of Bulgaria to support the struggle against world terrorism, the Movement` representative Yunal Lyutfi said. The Bulgarian Socialist Party will also support the government, the speaker of the party Angel Naydenov announced. However, before that the Socialists will ask the government to explain what the phrase `to provide support in every possible way,` means and will invite Foreign Minister Passy to hold talks with the Commission on Domestic Policy, Order, and Security.
