The 184 victims of the 11 September 2001 attack on the Pentagon will be remembered with 184 "light benches", the US Defence Department said on Monday. The winning design was chosen from 1,126 entries, and will stand under the final flight path of American Airlines flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon. Desingers Julie Beckman and Keith Kaseman, both from New York, envisage the 184 benches, each inscribed with a victim's name, arranged in rows over a two-acre (0.9-hectare) site near the western face of the five-sided building. "It's a quiet place for family members, friends and colleagues of those who lost their lives to think and contemplate," Beckman said.
