EUROPEAN CHAMPION EXPELLED FROM THE TEAM

400 m run European Champion, from Gent 2000, Iliya Dzhivondov was expelled from the team by his coach Hristo Stoyanov, known as the Professor. The reason for this decision is the refusal of Dzhivondov to keep to the schemes and methods of the Professor. Several days after Iliya`s expel, 200 m champion Petko Yankov, who had also been training with Stoyanov, declared that he would leave the team, startled by the strict discipline. `During the last year Iliya has devoted himself mostly to his personal life and has not kept of the methods of training, which made him European champion, as well as open and indoor record holder of Bulgaria,` Stoyanov said, yesterday. 22-year-old Dzhivondov was discovered by Stoyanov in September 1998. The coach made the unknown athlete a 400 m run record holder of Bulgaria. In 2000 Iliya won the 400 m indoor European title.
