The transborder dimension of environmental protection and the good example set by Bulgaria and Romania in the region were pointed by Romanian Waters and Environmental Protection Minister Petru Lificiu during a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart February 24.
Minister Petru Lificiu is visiting Bulgaria at the invitation of Bulgaria's Environment and Water Minister Dolores Arsenova.
The process of harmonization of national legislations with EU law, opportunities to implement new bilateral projects and ways to ward off waste imports were also on the agenda of the two ministers.
Environment protection must be the bridge for cooperation between Bulgaria and Romania, Minister Petru Lificiu said in private national TV channel broadcast "This Morning" February 25.
In his opinion the two countries enjoy higher chances for success when applying jointly for financing under international programs.
