Bulgarian Killed in Greece Bus Crash

Bulgarian Iliya Konstantinov, 39, is among the fourteen victims of a bush crash in Greece that occured on Sunday morning. Bulgarian consulate in Thessaloniki said that Greek police had no information about the dead Bulgarian. The mission has not yet confirmed the news. According to ANA agency, Konstantinov lived on Greek island Crete.

The Bulgarian was killed after an interstate bus travelling on the Athens to Thessaloniki route fell into a river in northern Greece.

Authorities have not released information as yet on how exactly the bus crashed through protective railing atop a bridge over the Aliakmonas River, west of Thessaloniki.

According to earlier reports, 23 passengers were traveling to Athens in the bus, while eyewitnesses said the bus veered into the opposition traffic lane and travelled some 40 metres before crashing into the rails and then 15 metres down into the river's freezing waters.

Apart from the nineteen killed, eight passengers got seriously injured.
