`The strategy for the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company /BTC/ privatization is in an advanced stage,` Minister of Transport and Communications Plamen Petrov said. Two options are considered: selling BTC with a package of stock and a license agreement for a mobile operator or by attracting a strategic investor. It will be clear whether the contract with Deutsche Bank as the privatisation intermediary will be renewed by the month`s end. Deputy Prime Minister Nikolay Vassilev, Minister Plamen Petrov and the CEO of the Privatisation Agency /PA/ Apostol Apostolov met the bank`s Vice President Ian Logan. The bank presented a long list of potential investors, including almost all European and US telecommunication operators. The Greek OTE announced its intention to bid independently for BTC. Last year OTE took part in the tender in consortium with the Dutch KPN and bid USD 650 M, but after a year the negotiations ended without reaching consensus on a deal.
