Bulgaria: BSMEPA in Support of the Partnership between Bulgarian and Armenian Business

Deputy Minister of Economy Alexander Manolev is on a visit to the Republic of Armenia for participation in an Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation. He is accompanied by Executive Director of Bulgarian Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA), Dr. Boyko Takov with a business delegation, which includes more than 30 Bulgarian companies. A business forum and meetings with representatives of institutions and potential investors were organized within the framework of the visit.

Bulgarian exports to Armenia in 2017 reached $ 31 million, which is its highest level in the past 10 years, Deputy Minister Manolev announced at the opening of the Bulgarian-Armenian Business Forum in Yerevan. Over 100 companies from both countries attend the event.

„I hope we can see areas of cooperation such as partnerships between our companies to implement projects in third countries“, said Alexander Manolev and gave an example that Bulgarian and Armenian companies can work together in markets in the Far East. In his words, it is important that Armenian exports to our country also grow so that we have sustainability and even better results in our economic cooperation. „I suggest Sofia to host such a forum, as well, in order to continue the conversations between businesses that will start today“, the economic deputy minister added.

Emphasis during the forum are the opportunities for business and investment in our country. Bulgaria offers the lowest taxes in the European Union, which combined with the available skilled labor and the lowest operating costs, rank us among the best business destinations in the Union, was highlighted during the discussion. According to statistics for the last 10 years, foreign investments in Bulgaria exceed to EUR 29 billion.

Today’s forum was also attended by Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rosen Zhelyazkov, Minister of Economic Development and Investment of the Republic of Armenia, Tigran Khatcherian, Armen Kazariyan, Union of Producers and Employees of Armenia and others.
