The Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office has accused Sozopol Mayor Panayot Reyzi of misappropriation of nearly BGN 2 million belonging to Sozopol Municipality between August 2014 and March 2017, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria said. The crime consisted in invoice payments from the municipal budget for completed construction works, but the sums were transferred to the bank account of an individual who had nothing to do with the contracted company. According to the prosecutors, he acted in collaboration with another official of the municipality and committed documentary offences, deliberately using false private documents – contracts and invoices – to facilitate the misappropriation.
