Shocker: Bulgaria Drops from UK Tourists' Cheapest Summer Spots List
In an unexpected turn, Bulgaria and Turkey have been notably absent from the list of the ten cheapest European summer destinations for British tourists
On March 8 - International Women's Day, the non-governmental organization Reach for Change launched the global initiative Bridgit, which aims to overcome digital inequality between men and women. 11 women - social entrepreneurs from Europe and Africa will get support to develop their digital solutions that increase access to information technology for women and girls. One of them is Nikoleta Popkostadinova - founder of the Loveguide Sexual Education Platform and finalist in the first edition of CHANGE.
Loveguide is an online platform for sexual education that encourages young people to have a responsible and informed attitude towards themselves and their partners. Through its YouTube channel, the health and sexual education platform for children between 11 and 17 years of age reaches up to 25,000 girls and boys every week. In addition to its digital channels, Loveguide helps teenagers live, conducting hours of health and sexual education across the country. Since its launch in 2015, the team has met with nearly 5,500 pupils from 5 to 12 grade in 45 schools throughout Bulgaria and has conducted over 250 lessons on changes in puberty, love, relationships, sex, prevention of unwanted pregnancy and prevention of sexual violence.
Through Bridgit within one year, Nikoleta and the other 10 female entrepreneurs will receive support to grow their innovations, and will have the opportunity to share experience with each other and other women leaders in the technology sector. The program will end with an international event that will focus on how new digital innovations can contribute to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
"Digital inequality between men and women - lack of access to technology and information - is a serious challenge for the whole world. Through this initiative, we want to honor and support female entrepreneurs in the technology sector, which are a role model and which contribute to a more inclusive process of digitization, "said Sofia Braitholtz, executive director of Reach for Change.
Bridgit is an initiative of the Reach for Change international foundation in partnership with investor Sophie Steinbeck and Swedish technology companies Kivra and Hogia. In Bulgaria Reach for Change is a partner of Nova Broadcasting Group in organizing the largest socially responsible initiative of the media group - the competition for social entrepreneurs CHANGE.
