Putin Brings Bolshoy Theatre, Mihalkov to Bulgaria

Actors from the world-famous Bolshoy Theatre and Oscar-winning Russian film director Nikita Mihalkov will come to Sofia for a special festival during the official visit of Russia's President Putin.

Moscow's top politician and his Bulgarian counterpart Parvanov will open the "Days of Russian Culture" in Bulgaria on March 1, the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency said. This is the scheduled date of the Russian President's arrival in Bulgaria. Anatoly Krasnov from the International Cooperation Department with Russia's Culture Ministry broke the news to Bulgarian reporters.

The Days of Russian Culture will take place at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. The festival will offer a concert of the Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble and actors from the Bolshoy Theatre, a photo exhibition titled "Russia Today" and a historical exhibition in connection with the 125th anniversary of Bulgaria's liberation from Ottoman yolk. Eminent Russian film director Nikita Mihalkov is expected to arrive for the opening of a week of Russian cinema.

The program also spans performances of the Kazan Kazakh Ensemble, the Bolshoy Theatre, the Maly Theatre and the Kremlin Ballet.
