Bulgaria: The Ministry of Economy and BSMEPA will Support Start-ups

We support the idea of institutional support to start-ups for the development of their innovative and export potential and we are ready to cooperate for a more active partnership with the Ministry of Economy and in particular with the Executive Agency for Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (BSMEPA). This was stated by the Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov after signing a cooperation agreement between BSMEPA and the National Representation of the Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Community (BESCO). At the official ceremony in the Ministry of Economy, the document was signed by Dr. Boyko Takov, Executive Director of the Executive Agency for Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Dobromir Ivanov, Executive Director of the National Representation of the Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Community (BESCO).

"Several are the strategic tasks of the future partnership and, as the main one, I would like to point out the cooperation of the state in the field of BSMEPA to improve the business environment in Bulgaria and to build more efficient state policies in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation. Bulgaria has the potential to become the European Start-up Incubator and we need to do that. To this end, however, we need to unite our efforts to create the conditions in which our country builds its economy on R & D, entrepreneurship and innovation, "said Dr. Boyko Takov. Within this partnership, BSMEPA will support start-ups in developing innovative products and services, expanding existing and emerging markets. The agency has experience and expertise in organizing joint business and B2B missions and clusters (C2C) in the country and abroad, in conducting initiatives related to the promotion of entrepreneurship and attracting investments in the country, in the development and realization of joint projects in support of companies funded under EU programs or other donor programs, explained the Executive Director of BSMEPA.

Dobromir Ivanov emphasized the need for state incentives to improve the start-up ecosystem. According to him, the main function of the Agreement is a significant part of the companies in Bulgaria to focus on the export of products and services with high added value. And also the joint efforts of the state and the startup community for our country to prepare for proactive positioning in the industries of the future (autonomous vehicles, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, etc.). BESCO highlighted the inability to collaborate in collecting and analyzing start-up ecosystem data and building Startup Indeh, Mapping Innovative and High-Tech Business in the Country, and supporting the development of regional ecosystems. From startup organization focused on the partnership to attract foreign investors and companies and rebranding of Bulgaria in direction - Science, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
