Bulgaria: Eurostat: Half of Bulgarians with a Smartphone do not Protect their Personal Data

Nearly half of Bulgarians who have a smartphone have never restricted or denied access to their personal data when downloading a mobile app. Data is available from the European Statistical Office Eurostat and are for 2018. They cover people between 16 and 74 years of age, reports Dnevnik.


The lowest is the protection of personal data in the Czech Republic, where 67% of people did not restrict access to them. With 49%, Bulgaria ranks second in the European Union, followed by Cyprus and the United Kingdom by 43%.


Only 10% of smartphone users in France have never restricted or denied access to their personal data when downloading apps. In Germany, 16 percent of people have never defended their personal information, whereas in the Netherlands and Luxembourg this percentage is 17.


On average, 28% of smartphone users in the EU have replied that when using or installing an application, they never restrict or deny access to their personal data. Seven per cent did not know that it was possible to restrict or deny access to their personal data.


Less than half (43%) of smartphone users have a security system that has been automatically installed or provided with the operating system on their mobile device, according to Eurostat. 15 percent subscribed to a security system or used one that was installed by someone else.
