In a testament to enduring friendship, this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China
"Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov gave the first impetus for all the support we received for our Euro-Atlantic integration: His message was: Europe helped us, now we help our neighbours." With these words, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, addressed Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ekaterina Zaharieva, reports BNT.
Dimitrov and Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva on 1st of February held talks in Bucharest on the sidelines of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers with their counterparts from the Western Balkans.
Minister Zaharieva assured her Macedonian counterpart that the Bulgarian business is interested in intensifying contacts.
"But before that we have to make our roads better, railway connections, encourage cultural exchange," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
As an example of the excellent connections between the citizens of the two countries, Zaharieva gave the play " Karamazovi Brothers", which Macedonian director Deyan Proykovski will put on stage in Ivan Vazov National Theatre in Sofia.
Dimitrov promised to come for the premiere of the play, which includes actors such as Vlado Penev, Deyan Donkov, Marin Yanev and Anna Papadopoulou.
"Together, we have achieved a new spirit in our relations, thank you for not only being the first who recognized our country, but also for the first time you have given a mandate to sign our NATO accession protocol," said Nikola Dimitrov.
Zaharieva and Dimitrov will soon meet in Sofia to prepare the next joint meeting of Bulgaria and Macedonia.
