Ex-Economy Minister: Bulgaria Unlikely to Enter Eurozone in Early 2025

Today, 1 February 2019, the Executive Agency for Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises hosted business meetings between Bulgarian and Egyptian companies held immediately after the signing of the Protocol of the I-th Session of the Bulgarian-Egyptian intergovernmental Joint Economic Cooperation Committee. The President of the Bulgarian part of the Commission is Mr. Rumen Porozhanov, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, and from Egyptian - Dr. Sahar Nakor, Minister of Investments and International Cooperation. It was emphasized that both the holding of the session and the bilateral business meetings set off a new stage in bilateral economic cooperation.
Within the framework of the business event, the Executive Director of BSMEPA, Dr Boyko Takov held a meeting with the representative of the Egyptian partner structure - Agency for Development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, during which he presented a draft Memorandum of Understanding.
Later, Dr. Takov held a working meeting with Minister Saharan Nasr at the BSMEPA Hall. During the meeting, the Executive Director introduced Mrs Nasr to the activities and measures implemented by the Agency in support of Bulgarian enterprises. The sectors of interest to the Egyptian side were identified with a view to forming a business delegation and preparing a focused business forum to be held within the forthcoming visit of the President to Egypt. Mrs. Nasr did not conceal her surprise at the level of preparation of BSMEPA for the meetings held, as well as the draft memorandum of understanding presented. Mrs. Nasr announced the creation of a joint Bulgarian-Egyptian Business Council, expressing her expectations for the agency to propose the composition of the Bulgarian part. It declares full support from its ministry for the preparation and conduct of large-scale business events during the presidential visit to Cairo.
