More Confusion: Daniel Mitov Declines Offer for Acting Foreign Minister
GERB MP Daniel Mitov has announced his refusal to accept the offer to serve as acting foreign minister, citing concerns about becoming a pawn in the current power struggle
The Bulgarian government has approved a plan on the possible scenarios of the UK leaving the EU, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform Ekaterina Zaharieva told reporters at Parliament, Focus News Agency reports.
"All member states are working towards a Brexit deal but we have to be ready for a no-deal option anyway. Today the Bulgarian government has approved a decision of the Council of Ministers as a two-part plan – one on applying a deal, and the other on a no-deal Brexit. The aim is to minimise as much as we can the negative consequences in all spheres,” Minister Zaharieva said. “Regarding EU citizens and Bulgarian citizens, the UK government has promised that those living in the UK by 29 March will retain their rights. Today, the Bulgarian government has committed to allowing UK citizens, about 7,000 people, living in Bulgaria to live and feel good here by a really easy and simple registration procedure,” Minister Zaharieva explained.
