Bulgaria: No Irregularities in the Construction of a New Hotel at Seashore in St. St. Konstantin and Elena

There is no legal violation in the construction of a hotel with an outdoor swimming pool in the St. St. Konstantin and Elena resort, near Varna, because it has a legal construction permit based on approved technical documentation, said Ivan Nestorov, head of the Directorate for National Construction Supervision. “There will neither be a new beach nor anyone is building on the existing beach,” he told a briefing after a site inspection in the resort following reports from citizens that a massive building was being built on the very beach, Focus Radio reported. Nestorov said the permit was for a two-storey hotel with a tower, and its outdoor swimming pool was located in a regulated plot of land, part of the new development plan approved by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works in 2017. There is no violation regarding the height of the building from the beach because the law allows for it, the DNCS head explained. From the street, it is a two-storey building, with a tower that will have a total area of 25 sq m, he said.
