Bulgaria: Bulgarian Albert Popov Finished 9th at the Kitzbuehel Slalom

Albert Popov made an amazing race and was the big surprise in the slalom at the Austrian Kitzbuehel resort, a round of the Alpine Ski World Cup.

The 21-year-old Bulgarian took the ninth place in the final standings, although he was the 71st starting number.

For the first time in his career, Albert Popov was among the top 10 in the world. Before that, he was 20th in the Lewy slalom and 16th in Madonna Di Campiglio.

The ranking is the best for Bulgaria after the glory years of Peter Popangelov.

Albert Popov shocked everyone after taking the fifth position in the first run. His time was better than a new world star, including Marcel Hirscher.

The Bulgarian managed to make a second good slalom and with a time of 55.82 seconds took the prestigious ninth position.

Klemmen Noel, Frenchman, became the first in Kitzbühel and Marcel Hirscher was the second to be the first to be in Kitzbuehel. The honor staircase was filled with another Frenchman - Alexis Pinturo.
