Whooping Cough Outbreak Hits Bulgaria: Health Officials Scramble for Solutions
In response to the alarming surge of whooping cough cases, the Health Commission has convened an extraordinary meeting to address the escalating situation
Flu epidemic has been declared from today in the Sofia city district and the regions of Blagoevgrad and Kyustendil. Consultations to pregnant women and children, visits to hospitals, planned surgeries and prophylactic vaccinations are indefinitely suspended. Thus, the regions affected by flu are now 21 – Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Dobrich, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Ruse, Sliven, Smolyan, Sofia region, Sofia city, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Shumen, Yambol, as well as Lukovit municipality.
School classes in the capital city are suspended until February 4, in Blagoevgrad and Kyustendil – until February 1.
