British Company Starts International Expansion via Bulgaria

AquaSource Algae Group plc, a British company that started its international expansion through Bulgaria, was presented the award for Best Company of the Year on the OFEX market in the United Kingdom.
OFEX, the premier small companies' market, announced the winners of its 2002 Annual Awards at a ceremony held at the Bloomberg Television London auditorium on Monday, February 17th.
Around 300 members of the OFEX community gathered to see AquaSource Algae Group plc pick up the major award, Best OFEX Company of 2002. Its share price has risen by over 200 per cent since its OFEX debut in August 2002.
A recent admission to the OFEX market, AquaSource Algae is a direct sales company, a People's Franchise that sells ranges of health foods and supplements with lead products being colostrum and high quality green foods such as Lake Klamath blue-green algae and spirulina.
AquaSource's products are distributed across Europe via a network of about 40,000 independent direct sales distributors registered to each subsidiary offices in the UK, Bulgaria, Finland, Greece, and Croatia.
The products are mainly manufactured in the UK.
Plans call for a launch in Russia and the Scandinavian countries later this year.
The company's first office outside the UK was set up in Sofia. Due to the entrepreneurship of the Bulgarian distributors, AquaSource managed to create an extensive network in the region and to gain the financial strength needed for its launch on the OFEX.
Voting in this year's awards was open to over 45,000 registered users of the OFEX website, www.ofex.com
