JOINT RAILWAY PROJECT WITH MACEDONIA

Bulgaria and Macedonia will take part in a joint project for a railway connecting Sofia and Skopje, financed by the Stability Pact. That was announced after a meeting between Bulgarian Transport Minister Plamen Petrov and his counterpart Lyubco Balkovski. The railway is part of the Trans European Corridor No. 8. `The railway networks of the two countries are of major importance for the freedom of goods in Southeastern Europe`, the Bulgarian minister said after the talks. The ministers signed a protocol on the project and discussed more border checkpoints opening.
