Bulgaria's best tennis player Magdalena Maleeva was knocked out of USD 170,000 Qatar Open after Russia's Elena Likhovtseva defeated her in Friday's quarter-finals.

Bulgarian third seed Maleeva lost to fifth seed Russia's player 4/6, 2/6.

In the all-Russian quarter-final Anastasia Myskina overcame compatriot Dinara Safina 6/2, 7/5.

Earlier in the week Maleeva eased past Slovakia's Martina Sucha, 6-4, 6-2, in 80 minutes. Her play was flawless using her powerful backhand shots. She broke Sucha in the second, fourth, eighth and tenth games and secured a comfortable lead in the first set.

Likhovtseva defeated Iroda Tulyaganova of Uzbekistan (6/1, 6/4).

Second seed Anastasia Myskina brushed aside Austria's Patricia Wartusch on Saturday to set up an all-Russian final in the Qatar Open. Myskina, who reached the quarter-finals at the Australian Open last month, beat Wartusch 6-3 6-3 and meets fifth seed Elena Likhovtseva in Sunday's final.
