Bulgaria's Maleeva Faces Russian Player at Qatar Open

Bulgarian third seed Magdalena Maleeva will face Russia's Elena Likhovtseva in Friday's quarter-finals of the Qatar Open.

Maleeva eased past Slovakia's Martina Sucha, 6-4, 6-2, in 80 minutes. Her play was flawless using her powerful backhand shots.

She broke Sucha in the second, fourth, eighth and tenth games and secured a comfortable lead in the first set.

Likhovtseva defeated Iroda Tulyaganova of Uzbekistan (6/1, 6/4).

In other Friday's quarter-finals Martinez will play Russia's Lina Krasnoroutskaya, Pratt takes on Wartusch and second seed Anastasia Myskina of Russia meets compatriot Dinara Safina.

Eighth seed Nicole Pratt of Australia recovered from a set down to beat Indonesia's Angelique Widjaja 4-6 6-4 6-1 in the second round of the Qatar Open on Thursday.
