The coming development of the situation will determine the University`s actions in connection with the celebrations. In memory of the victims and in sympathy with their families, the university canceled the press conference on the 10th anniversary in Sheraton Sofia Hotel. `The entire community of the American University in Bulgaria is deeply stunned and saddened by the events in the United States. These horrible acts of violence that strike through the heart of all that democracy, tolerance, and understanding signify, only reaffirm our strength and resolve to continue to fulfill our Mission to educate a new generation of young people committed to serve the needs of the region through an understanding and commitment to the values of democracy and freedom of inquiry, thought, and expression, University officials stated in a declaration.
