Bulgaria: The International Film Festival Burgas Starts on July 20 with over 30 Films

From 20th to 27th of July, Burgas will host the third International Film Festival Burgas. Winners of many prestigious film awards will be present personally and will provoke audiences with their latest film work. This year's selection of the festival will be marked with more than 30 titles from the countries in the region and will take place the traditional film panorama presenting the members of the international jury.

Among the highlights are titles such as The Infinite Garden (Bulgaria, Galin Stoev); The son of Sofia (Greece, Eleni Psikou) has won a number of prestigious film awards, such as Tribeca and others; Straighforward (Ukraine, Marina Stepanska); The guest (Turkey, Andas Khaznardoglu); Zer (Turkey, Kazim Oez) and 8''19 (Bulgaria), whose writer, writer Georgi Gospodinov, will close the festival program. In the documentary selection we will see: Not in place (Turkey / Belgium, Volkan Uche); Through her body (Greece, Zaharias Mavroeidi); Harmony (England / Russia, Frederick Paxton); In (in) the nation of the big Odessa (Ukraine, Alexander Brunkovski), Jam session (Bulgaria, Borislav Kolev), Life sometimes (Turkey, Hem Hakverdy). The short-film selection again focuses on young directors with a bright future, winners of international festivals.

International jury team: Hristo Iliev-Charlie; Anna Goranova; Pippo Medzpeza; Vano Bourduli; Pavel Kita and Pedro Fernandez Duarte will select the winners in the best feature, documentary and short feature categories, and viewers will again be able to take part in the selection of the most enjoyable prize, the favorite of the audience.

For the first time official partner of the International Film Festival Burgas will be New Boyana Film. The biggest studio in the Balkans will award the winner in the category of the best feature award "Danny Lerner" worth € 10,000 in services. The winner will be able to use it for his next full-length project.

This year the festival has prepared a surprise and will present short films of talented young Burgas directors who will personally tell more live - an initiative aiming to become an integral part of the festival and to grow into a platform of Burgas artists.

Among the accompanying program of the festival are also many other exciting events. One of them is the Scenario Workshop, which will be held on the island of St. Anastasia with the leading Bulgarian scriptwriter Simeon Ventsislavov, who received international acclaim with the films Directions and Aga.

Short story lovers will have the opportunity to attend the meeting with Georgi Gospodinov, who will read and talk about his new book "All our Bodies". The event will be held on July 26th at 19:00 in the Grand Hotel & SPA Primoretz.

For the first time in Burgas, with its own exhibition, Bataki Studio will host Tedema Maria and Hristo Dachevi. In the specially designed for the exhibition, entitled "The Magic of Cinema in Miniatures", the cinema behind the frame and its magic in detail will be presented in an extremely creative way. The exhibition will be opened on July 17th and will continue until the end of the month at the G. Baev Gallery.

The BIFF organizers believe that the third edition of the festival will reinforce their conception of turning Burgas into a cross point of contemporary filmmakers and lovers of the seventh art and will give the city a worthy place in the mind of cinephiles from Bulgaria and abroad.
