Bulgaria: Garbage Truck Got Stuck into a Huge Hole in the Center of Sofia

A garbage truck got stuck into a huge hole in downtown Sofia on Friday evening, eyewitnesses told Mediapool.

Fortunately, no one suffered in the accident and the truck was able to continue. However, the hole still remains.

The absurd thing here is that the fall of the pavement happened right at the crossroads of Tsar Shishman and Ivan Vazov, which has recently been repaired. A fresh piece of asphalt is clearly visible around the enclosed pit.

The Metropolitan Municipality explained to Mediapool that the collapse was caused by an accident in the district heating system. The fault was localized and is to be removed. Teams of the heat company must also restore the pavement.

The intersection was last renovated due to the replacement of the Sofiyska Voda water pipeline, the Sofia Municipality said on Saturday.
