Bulgaria: Secret NRA Clients go to Hotels and Merchants on the Bulgarian Sea Resorts

Hundreds of tax inspectors, together with other state bodies, start the summer control campaign on the Black Sea coast. More than 25 000 checks are due from tomorrow until the end of the tourist season, with a major focus on the reporting of turnover and issuance of receipts, the NRA reported.

The Revenue Agency recalls that this year's not giving of a cash receipt is immediately sanctioned by the sealing of the business site, in addition to the usual fine, but the main purpose of the auditors is to promote voluntary compliance with tax requirements. The revenue office will again use the remote connection of each cash register with its servers to find risky traders whose sales are significantly different from the usual ones.

Apart from hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, car parks and other retail outlets, monitoring will be subject to exchanges and markets that supply the hotels with food and drink, the NRA adds. The Inspectors of the Fiscal Control Unit will participate in the inspections that will cover the entire Black Sea coast and not only the big resorts. Some of the inspections will be on a "secret client" basis, but they will also patrol joint NRA and law enforcement officials with distinctive signs.

"Our main task is to improve the tax behavior of the Black Sea merchants, but sending teams there does not mean that we will break the quality of control activity in the country, we have nearly 800 people and good software tools for the purpose, Fiscal Control Director Spas Shishkov said on the occasion of the control of the NRA.
