Bulgaria: Convicted of Rape and Thefts Escaped from the Prison in Lovech

A 48-year-old prisoner escaped this morning in Lovech. The fugitive Boris Ivanov has been in the 2011 Huntsman Prison, where he served a 13-year prison sentence for rape and theft.

A month ago, he moved to an open style dormitory because he served 7 years of his sentence. During the day he cleaned a hut in a company outside the prison, where he was absolutely unguarded. So at about 10:30 this morning a company employee reported he is missing.

Prisoners working on unguarded facilities outside prisons are over 800. The justice ministry has no resources to protect them, and employers companies have no commitment to do so.
