Bulgaria: The Rain Flooded Sofia

Sofia was another Bulgarian town where the rainy storm triggered a drama. Metro, malls, office buildings, shops, subways have been underwater this afternoon. Boulevards turned into rivers, the water at junctions was almost a meter in height, cars and buses from public transport flooded. The electricity was cut off in several neighborhoods. The storm was the reason for the Bulgarian National Television to interrupt the broadcast of the match Belgium - Panama from the world finals.

"There is no damage to the municipal and transport infrastructure," Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said about 21:00. The subway was not stopped, only the entrances were closed. "About 2000 CEZ subscribers are without power supplies in Krasno Selo and Mladost, over 900 of which are flooded buildings," she said. There are no data on injured people. According to Fandakova, such a heavy rainfall unpleasant situations can not be avoided.
