Schools Closed in Karnobat and Ruen Due to Severe Weather
The mayors of the Karnobat and Ruen municipalities in the Burgas region have declared January 13 a non-school day due to severe weather conditions
Seven Bulgarian students in 10th and 11th grade from six cities in the country win the prestigious Harvard University Prize Book Award 2018. Prize winners are nominated annually from 2000 schools around the world, and at the national level, the award is given by local Harvard graduate clubs. The Harvard Prize Book Award is being presented by Harvard Club Bulgaria. It was established in 2001 and brings together Bulgarians who have completed various degrees and programs at Harvard University, students, lecturers and friends of the university from around the world.
The aim of the Book Award is to find and award students with outstanding achievements and to encourage their efforts to develop.
Harvard Prize Book Award 2018 for Bulgaria:
Zvezdin Bessarabov - 11th grade, Acad. Lyubomir Tchakalov, Sofia. He deals with block technology and machine self-learning. He is one of the youngest speakers at SoftUni, winner of the presidential diploma "John Atanasov".
Valeria Germanova - 10th grade, "Ioan Ekzarh" High School, Varna. She has participates in debate competitions, won the National Olympiad in English and a scholarship from the American Foundation for Bulgaria.
Nadezhda Ivanova - 10th grade, American College, Sofia. She has won a prestigious US Leadership Scholarship; she has been a volunteer at the Museum Science Center; participates in the athletics team at his school.
Monika Mitova - 11th grade, Academician Lyudmil Stoyanov, Blagoevgrad. Interested in journalism and human rights; winning the Center Aleph literary prize, participates in debates.
Georgi Petkov - 11th grade, "Petar Bogdan" PGPCHE, Montana. Winning multiple awards from debates, got EducationUSA scholarship; participates in literary writing and web design clubs.
Ilian Hristov - 10th grade, National Aprilov High School, Gabrovo. He has won several debate events, as well as awards from theatrical festivals.
Dimitar Chakarov - 10th grade, "Akad. Kiril Popov" MG, Plovdiv. He has participated and won medals at numerous scientific competitions and student conferences, including in Luxembourg, Poland, Serbia.
