Editor,
I am an American citizen. More importantly, however, I am a citizen of the world. Any decisions my country makes on my behalf affect my own personal security and reputation throughout the world.
Many hundreds of thousands of Americans do not agree with our government's current policy of war and international subjugation. We have repeatedly petitioned our government to look after the urgent issues affecting its own citizens, such as universal health care, welfare and fair wage laws, as well as the elimination of poverty and hunger, but our government continues to ignore the needs of its own citizens in favour of militarism and global economic domination.
I implore you, on behalf of many Americans, to ask your own government not to support the U.S. in any military action it may take in Iraq. If we are to learn to make peace in this world, we must each convince our own governments to find nonviolent solutions to international conflict.
Respectfully,
Andru Bemis
