In a testament to enduring friendship, this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China
The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Nikolay Nankov, said during parliamentary scrutiny that heavy goods vehicles would pay a toll tax on about 55% of the roads in the country.
The Minister informed that now the charging is in the process of planning, and an international financial institution is expected to support the work of an interdepartmental group on the subject. It also works on defining the range of roads in the system.
The two activities are outside the contract with the selected system operator, the minister said. He pointed out that Bulgarian carriers will calculate the price increase under the new system at the cost of their service and added that bus transport is expected to have some preferences for tariffs.
The Minister has called for a debate on the subject in the National Assembly in order to have a greater specificity. He reminded that with the introduction of the toll system there will be additional funds for road repair and construction of new ones and pointed out that now the money accumulated in the country from transit heavy goods vehicles remain 50 million leva annually while in Serbia - 300 million euro for almost the same kilometers.
