Sports | September 11, 2001, Tuesday // 00:00
Ljubo Petrovic resigned as coach of Bulgarian champions Levski. The extraordinary meeting of the club`s board of directors charged Nasko Sirakov to take the office of the coach before the UEFA Cup first round, first leg match away to Chelsea. Petrovic`s motives were for family reasons and physical stress following Levski`s qualifying matches in the Champions League,` Todor Batkov, member of the club`s Supervisory Council, elaborated. President Michael Chernoy is informed and gave his consent to our decision. For now, we are not in a hurry to appoint new coach though levski is to have 4 heavy matches,` Batkov added. To well-informed sources, the nominees are three: Velislav Vutsov, Dimitar Alexiev and Brann`s coach T. Tordason.
