Getting There: Solishta

Society | January 10, 2003, Friday // 00:00

Solishta is a small village in the Rhodopes situated 5km south of Shiroka Luka and lies hidden just under Turlata peak. The ruins of an ancient monastery complex and the ruins of two Second Bulgarian Kingdom fortresses named Gradishteto and Turlata lie nearby. A magic view opens toward the mountain slopes from the belfry of the old church. Above the village is the natural reserve called Chernoka, representing remnants of what was once a 300-year-old black pine forest.

There are houses for rent here in Solishta. There is no bus to Solishta.
