D.C. United confirmed Bulgarian striker Hristo Stoitchkov, 37, has been appointed as a player-assistant coach. A day earlier a trade of Hristo Stoitchkov by the Fire was forecasted in an article of Chicago Sun-Times. To get under the $1.7 million-per-season limit, the Fire had to trade captain Peter Nowak to the New England Revolution. The article cited general manager Peter Wilt as saying that MLS has been notified another established player will depart. It could involve a trade of Hristo Stoitchkov, the frequently injured Bulgarian striker, Chicago Sun-Times writes.
