Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Desislava Taneva has dismissed Yancho Yanchev, the head of the country's Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquacultures (EAFA).

Her move follows the arrest of Yanchev and another EAFA official earlier this week, as part of a probe into the alleged abuse of EU funding.

A third person, representing a company that was granted EU funding despite giving false information about its activities, is also in custody.

Allegedly, the company in question had no license to develop some of the fishing activities it claimed to be pursuing, but was handed out funding precisely to fulfill these activities.
