Bulgaria: Merely 2% of Bulgarians Use Flu Vaccines BGNES

The flu epidemic is imminent. Bulgaria normally registers its peak in January but there is still sufficient time to get vaccinated against the virus.

In our country, the range of the vaccine is usually 2-3% of the population or, at least, this is the quantity of vaccines imported for the season. This is insufficient to protect the highest-risk groups – elderly people over 65 years of age, babies and children, pregnant women and people with chronic illnesses.

The National Association of GPs in Bulgaria has targeted its efforts at convincing health employees to get vaccinated and to promote immunisation among their patients.

Medics are among the groups with the highest risk of infection.
