BULGARIAN DELEGATION TO WORLD CONFERENCE IN DURBAN

Deputy Foreign Minister Petko Draganov headed the Bulgarian delegation at the World Conference Against Racism in Durban. He had meetings with his counterparts of the participating countries. At all meetings, he discussed Bulgaria`s candidacy to NATO and EU. He met Dr. Ali Triki, the leader of the Libyan delegation and the Libyan Minister for African Unity. The Libyan representative thanked for the high-level participation of Bulgaria in the celebrations of the Libyan National Day, September 1. Dr. Ali Triki described Bulgaria as `a friendly country` with which Libya wants to develop better cooperation. Petko Draganov also met the Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Helena Opolecka. He discussed with her the October visit of Czech President Vaclav Havel. The deputy Foreign Minister talked with Minea Motok, State Secretary at the Romanian Foreign Ministry about regional security and the two countries` EU and NATO accession. Draganov met Chinese Deputy Minister, Indonesian Justice Minister, the Foreign Minister of Angola, Foreign Ministers of Trinidad and Tobago, India, Tuvalu and the Seychelles. At the meetings matters of mutual interest were discussed.
