BSP Joins GERB-Led Government with Four Ministers and Deputy Prime Minister?
The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) has approved its participation in a government led by GERB, alongside the "There is Such a People" (TISP) party
The parliamentary group of BSP Lyava Balgariya has decided to start discussions with other political parties for submitting a vote of non-confidence against the Borisov 2 Cabinet after, earlier on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers nominated European Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva for UN Secretary General.
Until now, Irina Bokova was the official nominee of the country for the prestigious international position.
Officially, the non-confidence vote will be because of a failure in foreign policy, but the motives will be specified with other parliamentary groups that might support the vote. In order for the vote of non-confidence to be submitted, 48 signatures are needed. The socialists have only 38 deputies.
It is expected that the vote will be supported by ABV deputies who also supported Bokova’s nomination for UN Secretary General. It is possible for negotiations to be held with DPS, Ataka and some of the independent deputies.
“The nomination of Kristalina Georgieva was the last straw. There are other arguments as well – the policy on refugees, the attempt to create ghettos in our country, the sanctions against Russia,” stated BSP leader Korneliya Ninova.
