Bulgaria: Turkey Not To Participate in Raqqa Operation If Kurdish Forces Are Involved BGNES

The Spokesperson for the Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced on Thursday that Turkey will not participate in the operation of the coalition forces against Islamic state in the Syrian city of Raqqa, if Kurdish forces participate as well.

“The negotiations are still going on; there is nothing certain. It is out of the question for us to participate in an operation in which the Kurdish Democratic Union Party and the People’s Defence Units are taking part as well,” stated Ibrahim Kalin.

Turkey claims that the Kurdish forces fighting in Syria are connected to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and describes the two groups as terrorist organisations.
