Mayor of Bulgaria's Perushtitsa Arrested in Corruption Probe

Radi Minchev, the mayor of the southern Bulgarian town of Perushtitsa, were detained in an ongoing corruption investigation on Tuesday, authorities said.
The investigation was linked to infrastructure building and repairs projects containing a number of irregularities, according to the Appellate Prosecutor's Office of Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second-largest city (in whose region Perushtitsa is located).
Minchev is the only mayor from Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), a member of the Reformist Bloc (RB) coalition that opposes the government even through the bloc itself is a junior partner in the cabinet.
