“Before we talk about the fate of the Russian reactors intended for Belene, Bulgaria has to pay,” stated Vice Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev. According to him, the interest on the sum decided by international arbitrage is Euro 10 M per month.
“The ventures themselves cannot find the money,” admitted Donchev. He pointed out that, within the next few months, it must be decided how the state can provide them with Euro 600 M. One of the options is to extend credit to the ventures. Negotiations have begun with the Russian side on the scheme of repaying the debt.
According to the Vice PM, any new scenario for the use of the reactors must have clear economic logic and all concrete actions on the part of Bulgaria should come as a result of a careful analysis.
