Turkey wants the Black Sea region to be “a center of stability and cooperation” rather than an area of tension, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said.

“Everyone must make an effort for this. There should be no threats emerging in the region for anyone, for Turkey, for Russia or anyone else," sputniknews.com quoted Cavusoglu as saying in an exclusive interview with the Russian media outlet.

Sputhik also quoted Cavusoglu as saying that the need for dialogue with Russia “was apparent” at last month’s NATO summit in Warsaw.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov proposed last month to declare the Black Sea a demilitarized zone.
