Bulgaria will send 20 tonnes of mineral water to the residents of Macedonia’s capital Skopje struggling with the devastation caused by a severe rainstorm and flash flooding that killed at least 21 people.

The delivery of humanitarian assistance was agreed at a meeting of Skopje Mayor Koce Trajanovski with a Bulgarian government official, the cabinet in Sofia said in a statement on Monday.

Bulgaria stands ready to respond to further requests for humanitarian assistance to help Macedonia recover from the disaster, according to the statement.

The Macedonian government on Sunday declared a two-week state of emergency in Skopje and Tetovo regions worst affected by the rainstorm that hit the area late on Saturday.
