Today's Quote: Presidency Challenge
Mr Borisov, I am giving you 48 hours to declare your personal candidacy for Bulgarian President. If you do, I will call the National Council of the BSP [Bulgarian Socialist Party] to ask for the party to nominate me - I will give you this battle and we will talk in the elections night, at the National Palace of Culture, about who is who. By not doing it you will make me think you are just jabbering but afraid."
Bulgarian socialist leader Korneliya Ninova has challenged Prime Minister Boyko Borisov to run for President.
Her words follow a remark by Borisov who, in an interview with bTV station on Thursday, said he was surprised the BSP's new head (Ninova was elected in the spring) was shying away from the forthcoming presidential elections.
Earlier, Ninova had said she was not running.
Less than three months before the vote, neither Borisov's GERB nor the BSP, respectively the senior coalition partner in the government and the biggest opposition party, have announced their presidential candidates.
The National Palace of Culture (NDK) is where the International Press Centre, used after elections and other key events, is located.
