Almost 80% of the new arrivals from the EU originated from Eastern Europe. Romania led the list with 174,779 arrivals, followed by Poland (147,910), Bulgaria(71,709) and Croatia (50,646) and Hungary (48,099).
The net inflow of people from EU member states into Germany was 382,449 last year, with a total of 685,485 people arriving and 303,036 leaving, the German newspaper said, citing data from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).
About 4.1 million citizens of EU member states live in Germany at present, according to BAMF estimates. Britain and France follow with 3.1 million and 2.2 million.
